Similar to Thailand high school in Japan covers grades 10 through 12. Although it is unessentail, some of Japanese people attend high school. The third year of high school in Japan is divided for students to prepare for college exams. Others may wish to settle for a job instead. High schools in Japan are referred to by upper secondary schools.

Japanese Sumo Wrestling is one of the oldest martial arts in Japan. In contrast to some of the traditional Japanese art forms like kabuki, which has a heavy stand in today's world, sumo wrestling is enjoying a rising popularity comparable to basketball in North America or soccer in EuropeSumo has its roots in the shinto religion. The matches were dedicated to the gods in prayers for a good harvest. the art of sumo wrestling could establish itself even outside of Japan.

The Japan Soccer League Cup was the original league cup for clubs in the top levels of Japanese football before the creation of the J. League and its cup. The cup was first played in 1973, but did not become an annual tournament until 1976.The JSL cup included clubs from both the First Division and the Second Division. JSL was the second national league of a team sport in Japan after the professional Japanese Baseball League.
